iOS (iPhone / iPad) Setup Guide

Recommended client: Shadowrocket

What You Need

Download the Client

Buy and install Shadowrocket from the App Store.
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad
- Search exactly for "Shadowrocket" by developer "Shadow Launcher Technology"
- Complete the purchase and install it as usual
Shadowrocket is a one-time purchase and supports family sharing for most users.

Open Shadowrocket once to grant VPN configuration permission.
When iOS asks "Shadowrocket Would Like to Add VPN Configurations", tap Allow and authenticate with Face ID / Touch ID. This is safe — Shadowrocket will create a single VPN profile for our servers.

Import Your Subscription Link

Copy your STEA subscription link to the iOS clipboard.
Open your STEA VPN dashboard in Safari, copy the subscription link. iOS will show a "Copied" banner.

Add a new subscription.
- Open Shadowrocket
- Tap the "Subscribe" tab at the bottom (the folder/list icon)
- Tap the "+" (plus) icon in the top-right corner
- Select "Subscribe" type (not Server)

Paste the link and save.
- In the Remark field, type "STEA VPN"
- In the URL field, paste the link (tap once → Paste)
- Tap "Save" in the top-right corner
- Back on the Subscribe screen, pull down to refresh — servers will appear
If no servers appear after refresh, go back and double-check the URL is exactly what you copied.

Connect

Pick a server from the Home tab.
Return to the Home tab. Scroll the list and tap the round radio button next to the server you want.

Turn on the main Not Connected toggle.
- The big toggle at the top of the Home tab slides to Connected
- A VPN icon appears in your iOS status bar
- Shadowrocket shows a live traffic counter
For region-locked apps like Netflix or ChatGPT, make sure you selected a server in the supported region first.

Verify It Works

Visit whatismyip.com in Safari.
The IP location should match the server name you chose in Shadowrocket.

Run a quick speed test.
Open fast.com — you should comfortably hit 4K-ready speeds on most WiFi and 5G connections.

Subscribe → + → Subscribe → Paste → Save

Home Tab

Select server + flip the main toggle ON

Connected

iOS status bar shows the VPN badge

Subscription list is empty after paste.
Refresh the Subscribe tab by pulling down. If still empty, re-copy the link from your dashboard and paste it again — a single missing character breaks it.
Toggle flips back to Off immediately.
iOS is rejecting the VPN profile. Reinstall Shadowrocket, reboot the phone, then open it once more and tap Allow when asked about adding configurations.
ChatGPT / Netflix still show region blocks.
Clear the app cache and restart the app after connecting. Some apps cache region info aggressively. You can also switch servers to another city in the same country.
